My Dad and I installed a 40 foot tower on the roof plus a 10 foot mast to carry the antenna similar to the picture above. Our nearest source at that time was Chicago! (more than 600 miles away) Dad hosted Friday night Fights using the RCA television set and most of the time we saw shadows in the snow of the screen but every once in a while clear! and all in attendance would cheer! We usually had deep fried bullheads (somewhat like catfish) and French Fries–all great fun! Saturday mornings my older brother and I had the chore of clean up which usually took most of our morning. We added fun to the chore by tuning in to Houston, Texas watching snippets of Howdy Doody, a western character about our age with all kinds of humor! We said at the time that we got a signal that was bounced from the clouds as reflectors–hmmm? Some 2000 miles away!

So, that was then and now spending time in Arizona we have no cable TV, we depend on our cell phone Hot Spot for a WIFI signal and have about the same reception as 1950! A bit of exaggeration I am sure and yet we are still subject to the whims of the WIFI supplier, weather, and the finicky equipment we have. What is the timeline to secure satellite service? Cost, band width, weather, priority, or a dozen other problems.
